Starting to wind down the work day...
Oct. 13th, 2003 04:14 pmOh, yeah. It's Columbus Day. A Federal holiday.
Which basically means that banks and the post office are closed.
And NASA, generally speaking.
There's been something less than a skeleton crew here for most of the day, which started at 8:30 this morning for me, at least here.
It turned out that Viet and Natalie worked out a deal where she can use his car for a while, which made my rental of a car while I'm in town redundant. And since I'm not about to spend $350 on a lark at this point, the car went back this morning.
I was a bit sorry about giving the car back, as I had originally reserved a compact car with National, but upon driving up to the checkout station, the attendant noticed that there was some kind of problem with the car and invited me to go back and get an intermediate sized car. As there were no intermediates available, I got into a nice golden Buick in the full-size line and found myself driving the Buick away a few minutes later, set for two weeks at the compact car rate. Ah, well...
Galina got herself a cell phone with reasonable minutes and a 6-month contract at Sam's Club, which is a lot better than the kinds of deals that are advertised almost on every corner of the city, some of which involve two-year contracts with credit checks. Good deal.
Talking about Galina, I need to start winding down the work day. Eight hours is enough for today, methinks, especially as I have work for another client waiting for me at home. :^)
Cheers...
