It's turning out to be one of those Sundays, where I feel like doing something, but events conspire to keep me at home.

I had wanted to go to the air show at Ellington Field, but went with Galina instead to the house we have for sale, to help move a garbage pail full of gravel - I think that's the definition of "heavy" - out of the back yard. As we were leaving, Galina got a call on her cell phone, which I answered. Some guy was interested in the house, but I could not get Galina's attention, as she was talking to someone who was on the front lawn of the house, with a cell phone plastered to his ear.

Yep. You guessed it.

Anyway, the folks who materialized out of nowhere seem interested in the house (at least Galina said he's going to apply for a mortgage). I'll keep my fingers crossed, but in my experience, small though it is, until you get a contract written, it's all just talk. On the way back to Pearland, I looked at the sunny sky and tried to convince myself I would've been miserable at the air show, since I've been known to get well and truly burned by the sun at previous such excursions.

As a result of the potential client, we were late getting home and giving the car to Natalie, who needed to get downtown to take an exam. By the time Natalie got back, I had napped and Galina was off to - finally - get the brakes fixed on the car, based on Natalie's report on driving the vehicle to and from downtown. Galina left so quickly, she didn't even have time to wait for me to finish reserving a car at Hobby, so I'm stuck here until she gets back, assuming they can get the job done in what is left of the afternoon.

I need to be at work tomorrow at about 5:25 am, and howeverwhichway I'm going, I'm going to have to arrive at the JSC gate about 15 minutes before that time (um, 5:10 am), which will enable me to walk from the gate to Building 30. Galina changed my work wardrobe on Friday, and I didn't check to see that my wallet got transferred, so I couldn't go get a car pass. So I will have to be out of the house NLT, say, 4:45 am.

No biggie.

What is a biggie is the prospect of going in cold to my certification. That bothers me. I had hoped to be able to "snap in" for a few days before "qual day," but I guess that's not going to happen. That just means I'll have to try all that much harder.

At least I'll have tomorrow to prepare.

I found some interesting info at Space.com regarding this year's Leonid shower about a month from now. It turns out there'll be not one, but three showers. I'll be aiming to get some good shots of the one that peaks on the 19th (which is just about a month from today), at about 12:25 am Eastern Standard Time. Plenty of time to prepare for that, methinks.

Cheers...
