Flailing...
Nov. 21st, 2003 11:57 pmI have rarely felt more disorganized in my life than right about now. It's a few minutes short of midnight, and I'm nowhere near where I need to be in terms of packing clothes or papers or computers or documents or whatever. The only thing I've taken care of to the end so far is my meds and toilet kit, and even the latter will require the addition of toothbrush and paste, assuming I don't forget the whole shebang completely.
Drew let me "work in" this morning, giving me a chance to send off the last two assignments on my plate and try to put together some invoices. I got the former done and some of the latter, but not all. He picked me up and delivered me to the store just before leaving for the downtown post office to pick up our daily ration of mail.
The day went reasonably, and Anna seems to be working out well. After work, The kids and I went to Isabel's, one of the better eateries in town, to celebrate a variety of things: an early Thanksgiving, a job well done this past week, and an opportunity to gaze at my granddaughter.
This was my first experience with "outside" food since starting the Atkins induction regimen almost two weeks ago, and I ordered a seafood dish whose only carbohydrate component was polenta, which I left on my plate (and eventually traded to Drew for one of his breaded shrimp). I was also able to withstand the lure of the glass of wine, although I'm sure it would not have harmed me.
A look at my carry-around journal (which also serves as a to-do list and compendium of what-have-you) shows that on November 4, I weighed 245 pounds. Today's measurement showed me to weigh 236, which is about 1/6 of the way toward my goal. My BP and heart rate were right on the money today, too.
I expect that during my trip to Houston, I'll be following up on my flght controller's physical with the NASA flight clinic, and I'll be interested in seeing what my cholesterol numbers are as compared to where they were earlier this year.
I asked Shannon's dad if he'd take me to the airport tomorrow, and he said he would, so I'll have to absotively, posolutely be ready and on the street by 9 am or so. I'll also be sure to get up early to make sure snow can be factored into our motoring plans, if necessary.
Time to go get organized, and then to sleep.
Cheers...
