That's what it feels like. I've had my slowly dimishing butt in this chair for pretty much the entire day. But it's been a productive one.

The day started with my sitting down to write my report on the translation assessment I did yesterday. That took almost until 9:30 am, and then I spent another half hour polishing the thing to a high spit shine.

Then I translated the 20-some-odd remaining pages of the 64-pager. While normally, 20 pages is an impressive volume for a day's work, the pages I had to work with were fairly sparse, so the day's take with this assignment was about 4000 words. I plan to give it a quick review tomorrow and send it before Drew picks me up around 9:30 am or so. He and Shannon worked the store pretty much alone today (along with, I hope, our new hire), which must've been tough.

Around about noon or so, I got a call asking if I could slip in about 1000 source words on acoustics. "Sure," I said, thinking to myself: "Are you crazy?" It would seem I definitely have a problem saying no, but as it turned out, the word count was accurate, and the subject matter was something I'd done before, so I was able to crank it out in about an hour and a half. It's ready to go, but I'll also give it a quick review tomorrow after a good night's sleep.

Slowly, I have been tweaking onegin's new RH 9 operating system and gaining confidence in the mail capability. I've also adopted a belt-and-suspenders approach to spam, using both SpamAssassin and Spambayes in tandem to minimize the appearance of UCE in my inboxes. So far, it's looking pretty good, as only a small handful of the more than 127 spam messages received (116 nabbed by SpamAssassin; the rest by Spambayes) have gotten through to violate my eyes today.

I also took a few minutes to organize my series of epiphanies with regard to Making Things Work™ on onegin (e.g., the $HOME/.procmailrc file must have permissions of 644). Having done that, I hope I'll not have to make use of them again any time soon.

There are a pile of things to do before I depart on Saturday. However, I shall dwell on those tomorrow. Right now, I am one tired wordsmith. Good night.

Cheers...
