Up to speed, for now...
Dec. 10th, 2003 05:19 pmI started to post something at the close of my shift, but suddenly decided I couldn't stand being inside the MCC for a minute longer than necessary today, so I bolted and drove home. Swinging by, I grabbed the DVDs due today and returned them, picking up Assassination Tango, as well as some victuals for the evening meal.
The side translation goes swimmingly, albeit the VAIO's fan is making alarming sounds, after having stopped entirely earlier in the day, requiring a "puff-start" (where I forcefully expel air into the outlet vent, hoping to dislodge the stuck impeller). I simply hope the machine lasts another two days, until I finish the job. (Actually, I hope it lasts longer than that, as there is no way I can afford a new laptop at this time.) I also have a short (500 word) job on the plate, but that ought to serve as a nice warm up for my next session at the keyboard.
Try as I might, my mind comes up blank when thoughts turn to subjects other than immediate creature comforts ("Is the heat on?") and work. There are good and bad aspects to that, I guess, given my current circumstances and location. Hopefully, I'll wake up by next Monday.
Cheers...
