An Amstel kind of evening...
Mar. 29th, 2004 08:49 pmFor once, I'm glad Amstel sells a light beer in the U.S., since it doesn't throw me too far off my low-carb consumption. It's been one of those days that just rates a beer or two in the evening.
When Drew called yesterday at noon, I figured the kids'd get in pretty late - or early, depending on your point of view - and I was right. They pulled in around 3 am, so my decision to go open the store this morning was well-founded. I worked until a little after 1 pm and went home, had some lunch, and lay down to take a nap.
What a nap! Drew's call around 4:15 pm roused me from a sound sleep, and I went back to the store to spell him for the last hour or so of the day.
Needless to say, today was not a very productive day, translation-wise, but I still expect to be able to make my Friday deadline, so I'm not worried.
I caught the last half hour of Scent of a Woman, with Al Pacino, and sat down to hear the magnificent oration Pacino's character delivers at the climax of the film, albeit Bowdlerlized somewhat to mollify various rules and regulations. I haven't updated my personal list of "Best Films" in a while, but I'm pretty sure to include this movie the next time I get around to it.
Natalie says she spoke with Galina recently; I haven't and it grates on my soul like fingernails on a blackboard. She's supposed to return to Houston on Wednesday. I can't wait.
I set up a RL chessboard and pieces in the bedroom, as an alternative to the boob toob. I figure a few minutes of abstract thinking might be better for my mental constitution than the uninspired drivel that is, by and large, dished out - or "dished in," so to speak - on the telly.
Cheers...
