Picking up...
Apr. 20th, 2004 01:15 pmThe work load has picked up sharply today, with nearly 10 radiograms stuffing the ol' inbox. Fortunately, they are for the most part brief, being merely supplemental comments to the procedures that have been in development for months.
An e-mail from my client yesterday woke me up to the fact that, although I had done a bunch of research, I had not actually purchased tickets for my trip to Russia/Kazakhstan. I took care of that earlier today, hiring a travel agency to do the legwork, and they came through with flying colors. The tickets have been paid for and hopefully, the appropriate notifications have been sent to all parties (no non-NASA e-mail access is available from JSC, so I can't check).
The basic bugaboo lay in the fact that, from Durango, there is pretty much no straight shot to Moscow (i.e., no set of connections that do not involve a 12+ hour layover somewhere). Since hanging out at airports for such periods of time ceased to be amusing somewhere in my mid-20s, I figured that if I have to spend the night in a hotel somewhere, it may as well be somewhere like London (as opposed to, say, Newark). So, I've arranged for the flight to Moscow in two legs: one, a round trip between Durango and London; the second, a round trip between London and Russia.
* * * Some confusion regarding yesterday's radiograms caused me to come in early this morning (this, after I got up early to begin with to do the sales tax paperwork for the store). I hope to be able to find a corner later in the day in which to snooze for an hour or two (I have my eye on the space-to-ground room, which will empty in about an hour and which will be reoccupied shortly before I am scheduled to go to work tonight).
I definitely cannot complain of boredom.
Cheers...
