Right now, I can hear the thunder grumbling in the distance, and although it sounds threatening, I know it's nothing like the weather right now in Florida. Some of the evening news programs made a point of showing off the stupidity bravery of their news staff, who were covering points on the east coast of the state live on the tube a few minutes ago. I wouldn't want to be in Florida right now for all the curry in India, unless I was an aquatic animal.

Galina and I visited the flea market up near the beltway earlier today, but it's really hard to get into the experience when every step you take reminds you that it's hot, hot, hot. I paused with pleasure before a riotous display of orchids on sale by a gent driving a beat-up van, but held myself back from purchasing a plant. Orchids tend to withdraw into themselves once I come into possession of them, but I do love the majesty of their blooms. Upon returning home, I'm sure I could have wrung out my tee shirt, but didn't bother to test my hypothesis.

In the afternoon, Galina and I watched Passionada, which I enjoyed very much, especially the way the writers made everything come out in the end. (I mean, if you're going to make things come out, do it right, yes?) Sofia Milos isn't hard to look at, either. The MVP deal with Hollywood Video continues, as I find out today that all the videos in the "middle" of the store (the videos on the shelves) are part of the inventory that can be rented as part of the monthly fee. (I guess that means that it's open season on the the foreign film rack, for me.)

Happily, it turns out the local Kroger's carries "Mississippi Mud," a beer I cannot get in Pagosa. So as the mushroom soup simmers on the stove, I'm sipping a bit of mud and enjoying life.

Cheers...
