Love that beach!
Sep. 6th, 2004 11:27 pmThe water wasn't as smooth as it was last year at Quintana Beach, but it was still glorious!

On reflection, however, the round trip (110 miles) seems rather long for the relatively short time Galina and I spent there (30 minutes?).
* * * The translations are done and invoiced.
* * * I have become an enthusiast of something called The Sleuthhound, a program that gives you the ability to index files on your hard drive, ranging from a single file (not too interesting), to one or more directories, to the entire drive.
The reason I am enthused is that I am sick and tired of formatting glossary files that have been compiled by people whose idea of what makes for a good glossary varies all over the landscape. The recently completed big job at The Office sported a good half-dozen files of glossary entries that were a royal pain to search the normal way (i.e., using Word or Excel).
In fact, one of the translations done today was a file from among a group of two dozen or so files that already had some translations in them (can we say "translation memory"?). I managed to set things up to be able to search the "other" files for useful terminology, and succeeded several times.
It's getting late. Big day tomorrow. Time to go to sleep.
Cheers...
