Sep. 26th, 2004 12:31 pmI have to say I have really enjoyed translating the incinerator operating manual (I'm all but finished). It all made just so much sense as I was translating... up until I got to the last appendix, which flat-out contradicts the main text. The contradictions don't make sense, either, given my control systems background.
What to do? Remaining silent invites the English-speaking reader of the translation to think bad thoughts about the poor translator, who is only doing his job.

Translator's note: Generally speaking, the reader is advised that Appendix 2 contains much information that contradicts earlier text (compare, for example, the explanation given below for CCU burner switch operation with the text in section 12.1.5). Such contradictions reflect the Russian original text.It's not foolproof, but at least it's proactive, no?
