Sleepless in Moscow...
Nov. 8th, 2004 06:39 amI think I'm developing some kind of sleep disorder in general. The past three nights, I've awakened between 2:30 and 3 am, local time (which corresponds to 5:30-6 pm Central), and I was only able to get back to sleep last night, as reported in the previous post. On Saturday morning, I did manage about an additional hour's nap between 8 and 9 am, and right now, I feel completely alert and awake. The dog that is barking outside, in some remote corner of the local courtyard, is helping to keep me that way.
Fortunately, I'll have plenty of opportunity to sleep on the plane, though I said that the last time, too, and only got about an hour's sleep on that return flight.
My driver, Alex, is supposed to come by to pick me up at 9 am, which ought to get me to the airport in plenty of time for a 10 am check-in. Delta recommends getting to the airport 3 hours ahead of schedule in these parts, though if things go smoothly, I ought to still have plenty of time to wander through the duty-free zone.
In anticipation of some future campaign, I've winnowed my luggage down to one item for check-in instead of the two that I brought in, having stuffed the smaller bag with items I can do without, or which I brought specifically for the campaign (e.g., thermos, a couple of paperbacks).
I wish I could stay longer, but there are bills to be paid, and I need to get back home and, as they say, take the bull by the tail and squarely face the situation. I expect my next post to occur from the other side of the Atlantic.
Cheers...
