So after several days of no translation work,

...on the morning when Shannon is on the road with her parents and Huntür to California, leaving Drew, Brady, and me to tend to the store,

...on the morning when the cable guy is supposed to install service at the kids' new place (which tied Brady up with wait-for-the-cable-guy duty),

...on a day when a steady stream of people marched into the store to make relatively small purchases (and didn't stop three people from mistaking our store for a bank as they paid for relatively small purchases with $100 bills, claiming to have no other means of payment on their person... the third person got back two 20s and $48 in singles... which wiped out our capability to make change for anything greater than a $2 bill, but I digress...),

...I get a call telling me I've got the originals to what turned out to be a 2100-word assignment waiting for me in email, to be done as soon as humanly possible.

Said document turns out to be a fax, of a quality I have not seen in some time (by which I mean to say: vividly poor).

I finally tore away from the store and went down to the coffee shop and set some kind of world record doing the assignment, which unlike most material I translate, seemed to Go On Forever™. In fact, I was called by the anxious client wanting to know an extimated time of completion and I was so sure that I was on the last page, I quoted a time of one hour, only to find - once I got to the end of the page - that I had another whole page left!

(I was grateful for the phone break, though. My eyes had begun to hurt from squinting at the fax for so long!)

Anyway, after sending back the completed translation, I did some work at the store and came back to the house at 4:30 and tried to take a nap, with no result. I've promised to cook dinner for the boys tonight, but in the end, we agreed to assemble at the new digs and I'd bring some steaks to grill.

I've got another assignment on the plate for tomorrow. It's relatively small, but something that will command my attention nonetheless.

Shannon and Huntür should be back next Monday. Now, however, it's time to roll...

So, where exactly do the kids live now?  I'll take along my cell phone and find out as I drive there. :^)

Cheers...
