Three cheers for Albuquerque airport!
Sep. 18th, 2005 08:19 amThe sign says "free wireless internet," and by golly, it is so.
Galina and I made it to the Duke City last night and settled down in a Motel 6 just south of Paseo del Norte on I-25. After checking in, we stopped by a Burger King for some food, which we took back to the room.
I wasn't hungry when we bought the burgers, but after taking a bite or two of my order, I was hungry enough to bolt the rest, which was a mistake, as the first tinges of heartburn became apparent about 20 minutes later. I drank the rest of my Diet Coke, hoping the carbonation would help, and it appears to have worked.
The night was restless for both Galina and me. I woke up every 2 hours or so, fully refreshed, with that feeling you have when you've beaten the alarm by a few minutes.
The first time it happened, the clock read about midnight. The next time, it was about 2 am; the next, about 4 am. Galina finally turned on the television in the room at 5 am, at which point we got up.
The Delta counter at the Albuquerque sunport is trying hard to automate itself. Happily, when my turn came, I received service from a human, after which I negotiated the line through security.
There is no food service on the flight to Cincinnati, which doesn't really bother me, as my appetite is not very apparent (I barely ate one McDonald's breakfast burrito this morning on the way to the airport). If I do get hungry, I'll try to catch something on the fly in Cincinnati, or just do without.
Boarding ought to start in about 10 minutes. See y'all in New York!
Cheers...
