Work at last!
Oct. 19th, 2005 12:54 pmI got a call from a client today with something that is sure to keep me busy for at least the whole day today.
That's good, as it will keep my mind off a phone call we got at the store yesterday from some fellow who sent something by Certified Mail that never got to its destination, and which never got scanned by the post office downtown (said lack of scan happens way too often, but that's not our bailiwick). While I didn't lose my temper with the guy, I allowed myself to become so upset during the call that I basically forgot anything I had ever learned about defusing customer complaints.
On the one hand, I have trouble taking seriously anyone who says he will sue me for "libel" because I am "libel" (read: liable) to him for damages resulting from (I assume) the letter not getting to where it was addressed (because he sent the letter from our storefront, which is a contract postal unit?). On the other hand, one need not have a good grasp of law or basic English usage to hire a lawyer who might want to squeeze a rock, so to speak, to see what issues forth. Too, the folks at the post office downtown told Drew this morning that they've been dealing with this fellow for the past couple of weeks, so he may be "motivated" to sue everybody and anybody for his perceived loss.
Only time will tell, I guess. Drew says this isn't the first time a customer has called to say he or she was going to sue us, and I seem to recall he is right.
Back to work!
Cheers...
