Quiet Tuesday...
Dec. 6th, 2005 07:44 pmToday, I went to sleep soon after returning from my shift and slept fitfully for maybe 5 hours. I'm going to try to hit the sack again in a few minutes and get a power nap going until shortly before it's time to go into work.
Last night's shift was pretty quiet, if you don't count the discussions about everyone's favorite topic: keeping track of where stuff is. Apparently the instructions at the top of a radiogram having to do with a repair operation pointed at some locations that did not contain the items required to do the job, which is not a propitious way to start your day.
Keeping track of where things are (and in space, apparently, the maxim about "a place for everything," etc. is of paramount importance, because everything must be stowed somewhere lest it be lost forever) has been a problem since the days of Mir. (In fact, the first time I met Sergei Krikalev was at Comdex, where - in his capacity as a cosmonaut who had spent a very long time aboard the Mir - he was the "draw" for a company that made a portable bar-code scanner to, naturally, keep track of stuff.)
Anyway, I did my job and came home after 10.5 hours. Soon, it will be time to go back.
I really must see to that power nap.
Cheers...
