My idea from yesterday - to use MS Word's revision mode to scrape away previously translated sections of my latest job - didn't work, for some reason. The algorithm that does the job apparently has its own rules that are followed when two versions of a document are compared, and since the differences are fairly significant, I can understand why certain decisions were made in the final markup.

However, that didn't help my cause any, so I sat down and carefully deleted the unwanted material manually and included the resulting word count in my first invoice for 2006, which has been spiffed up with the anvil graphic that I use on my work site.

Speaking of my work site, I managed to create a page last night containing my brand, spanking new GPG public key, but went to sleep without having modified the access rights to the page so that only I could change it. Speaking in paranoidese, this meant that anyone could have - in the few hours between posting the key and my realizing my mistake - replaced the key with some other. (Cue scary music.) Ultimately, assuming the interloper could intercept my email (not very likely) and further, that someone would send me something via email that was encrypted with my public key (probability approching zero, based on the history of use of old PGP public keys, though it did happen twice a long time ago), said interloper could merrily implement the "man in the middle" attack, with nobody the wiser.

Of course, this morning, when I compared the key I left out in the open to what I have on my machine, they were identical. I adjusted the access rights to the page, which ought to keep the lid on for a while.

Whatever remaining edits that remain on the chunk of glossary that I accepted for review will wait until tonight. I will send off the result tomorrow. In the meantime, Galina has a lunch date with a neighbor, so I plan to get dressed in a few minutes and walk to the store.

Exercise, dontchaknow.

Cheers...
