Long day...
Jan. 22nd, 2006 11:27 pmGalina and I got up at 2:30 am and left Houston an hour later, headed for Pagosa. I slept for most of the way up I-45 and dozed here and there along highway 287 between Ft. Worth and Childress. Galina well and truly didn't want to cede the wheel, and when she did - for a brief span between Childress and Amarillo and again from north of España, New Mexico to Pagosa, her back seat driving rivaled anything I had ever experienced from my mom back when I was first behind the wheel, and that is saying a lot.
My Pagosa ETA of 8:30 local time was shifted by almost exactly the hour we were delayed on I-40, a mere 2-1/4 miles east of the turnoff for Clines Corners and highway 285. We came home to a mewing cat (I had forgotten how incessantly the animal makes noise), my missing U3 USB drive (still connected to my computer), and a son who threw his knee out snowboarding (again).
Life goes on.
Cheers...
P.S. And not really an afterthought... Happy Birthday, Natalie! (It's already the 23rd in London.)
