Danger, Will Robinson! Cup status: OVERFLOWING!

It's always nice to be wanted, so when a client called a few minutes ago with as much work as I cared to take for Monday, I bit off... a tad too much, methinks.

Between the new work and old work that's piled up while more immediate texts have been incoming, it's looking like I've got about... mmm,... just under 30,000 source words to translate over the next 5 full days, plus whatever remains of today.

I've also been informed that the next Kazakhstan gig starts in about a month, and is slated to be a rather long-ish launch campaign.

I've got to make today count!

Making today count?

In reviewing today's earlier post, I notice I sort of absent-mindedly closed it with the sentence:

I've got to make today count!

Man, I wonder why that phrase, exactly, came to mind?

I mean, it's not as if I typically spend my days watching the soaps and chugging Miller High Life as I pick lint out of my navel.

Then again, I suppose I was simply trying to underscore the idea that I really need to buckle down and work in a disciplined manner, because translating 6,000 source words per day is a lot of farblegargling work! And to work at that tempo for five straight days.... <suck air in through his teeth>... is not a pretty picture.

(So there I am: complaining when there's not enough work, and whining when there's too much.)

The marginally good news is that I've taken care of about 2,500 words since this afternoon.
