So there I was last night, in my "office," freshly from the kitchen, having placed an - umm-m-m-m - frozen meal in the microwave to "cook," when I get a call from Mike T., inviting me over for dinner. Nothing fancy, says Mike, would you like to come?

"Sure!" I reply, figuring the meal in the microwave can keep. Mike picked me up about 15 minutes later.

Dinner was angel-hair pasta with a home-made meat sauce, and it (and the company) was better than sitting around the house, not that there could be any comparison. After dinner, we watched a comedy DVD featuring a guy who smokes a cigar and appears to be sippin' Scotch while he does his standup routine (obviously, I forget his name). The material depended a little too much on scatological language and behavior for my taste, although I freely admit laughing at much of the material.

I again slept in the guest bed, and slept like a rock (something fairly rare around our house), only to be awakened in the morning by Milo, one of the house dogs. Karen is a dog agility enthusiast and the level of training shown by Milo (I haven't really seen Dana, the other dog, do her thing) is pretty impressive.

At any rate, Mike dropped me off at the house around 10:30 or so, and I sat down to a 16,500-word "rework," which means incorporating edits, translating new bits, and making sure that - revision marks notwithstanding - the source and target otherwise match, just in case changes were made outside the scope of the configuration control process, which is a little like saying "just in case the sun rises in the morning."

I finished the document somewhere around three hours ago, and my eyes are ready to strangle me. Part of the reason for this was an inability to print 60 pages of text (gotta love those inkjet printers... not!) and a fundamental reluctance to walk/bike to the store merely to print out a file and walk/bike back. So, I ended up editing on two screens (desktop + laptop), which is associated with its own difficulties, but I think I got the job done. I will wait until tomorrow to send it, after giving it One More Look™ in the morning.

Cheers...
