The day was not as long as originally scheduled. It started with my going in as the "early" translator, among whose duties are to interpret for the morning meeting, but I was diverted to support operations downstairs in Hall 101 to help with electrical tests and, as it turned out, some other issues.

After lunch, I helped iron out some issues that arose when a piece of equipment was found to be faulty, and then coasted for a while after being relieved. Tomorrow promises to be more of an active day, which starts after lunch for me, which means that I'll have to buckle down on my outside project and put in some serious time on it.

Speculation continues in my mind as to the future for US-based interpreters in these campaigns, and the idleness of the speculation merely underscores the fact that it's not worth the trouble to worry about things that are, in the end, completely out of your control. Still, it's not easy to just turn the thought process off.

Cheers...
