I got an email a day or two ago from my client on the outside project, asking for a status report and confirmation that the work would be done by the deadline. After sending a reply, I took a close look at my schedule for the immediate future and decided that I'd have to make a hard charge this morning on the balance of the work, in an attempt to leave as small an amount as feasible between now and the deadline (allowing for time to review, natch).

Well, the text of the last part of the job was such as to put my translation memory to good use. I actually managed to finish two evenings worth of work in about 4 hours, so I am officially Happy™ (though not the dwarf). Now, to find some time for a review...

Unless I miss my guess, the combined stack of the spacecraft and the adapter system was lifted into place atop the upper stage this morning, and I'll be available in Hall 101 this afternoon to support any issues having to do with the subsequent tests. Yesterday's work to lift the spacecraft atop the adapter system ran into its own set of little glitches (which is the nature of any technical effort of any complexity), and the team came up with some good solutions to get the job done, in my position as a "participating observer."

I read an interesting item on the Runet a day or two ago. It turns out, according to a ruling by a high judge, that if a cop violates the law in handing a suspect in Russia, that the injured party cannot sue the government, because - reasoned the judge - by violating the law, the errant officer is operating outside the scope of what is allowed to the police, and therefore, the police department bears no responsibility. I found it a curious line of reasoning, but then again, the right to sue the government is never absolute, not even back home.

Cheers...
