Things are going smoothly with joint operations. This morning, I supported a two-hour session at the pad intended to check out the facility and do some electrical tests. Everything went smoothly, at least after the people who were to do the work got their act together (and their tools), in the end resulting in nothing more serious than a formal chewing out at the pad on the importance of punctuality.

About the most serious impact the delay had was that we returned to the Fili at about 10 after noon, and the bus to town was scheduled for 12:30 pm. This resulted in a somewhat abbreviated lunch, but it's not as if I'm in any danger of starving to death, so to speak. The things I bought were fundamentally things other people wanted me to buy, after which I went for another brief walk in the city.

However, while at the market, I did buy about the yellowest lemon I think I've ever seen and concluded that there is something in the genes of nut sellers that makes them predisposed to put the super-hard sell on any and all customers. This one guy I dealt with today really didn't want to give me change, urging me instead to buy more stuff, and it felt like it took about five minutes for me to convince him I really, really, really didn't have a need for anything else, whereupon he grudgingly gave up my change.

Dinner was uneventful, and I retired to my room to watch French versions of Stargate SG-1 and CSI:New York, which in French is titled Les Experts: Manhattan. Later, I stopped by Dwight's for a drink and to share some pickled boletes (marvelous!) that I'd picked up in town.

I've got my schedule for the upcoming week, and tomorrow is my day to be "on call," though I might go in to see the transfer of the ascent unit onto the train for the trip to Hall 111. (Then again, I might not.)

The local time scheme hasn't changed, but daylight savings has gone away in North America and in Moscow, so now I'm 13 hours in front of Pagosa, 12 hours in front of Houston, and 3 hours in front of Moscow.

Cheers...
