Yesterday was a pretty busy day that included a poker session (in which I came out ahead) and a trip to one of two Energia launch facilities (the photos for which I am still "processing"). Today, I joined a small group of people who were going into town specifically to get some victuals for this evening's barbeque at the Fili garden.

The weather has been cooperating marvelously, despite the fact it was cloudy and rainy this morning. By the time we got to town, the sun was peeking through the clouds and by the time we were going home, the interior of the van required air conditioning.

The barbeque went well, accompanied by a full moon, which happens to be the name of the satellite we're launching in just under a week (badr). Today was a holiday in the Russian Federation, one that was dreamed up to replace November 7 (the anniversary of the October revolution), but no Russian I've been able to speak with has been able to tell me just what the new holiday is for.

The launch vehicle will roll out tomorrow morning at 6:30 am. I plan to be asleep at that time. Undoubtedly, everyone will go out to the pad for the "verticalization" of the vehicle (a grand word used by those who might object to "erection"). Next week at this time, I expect to be in Moscow, if all goes well.

Cheers...
