All trained up...
Mar. 14th, 2007 10:49 pmToday was a fairly wet day around these parts, but fortunately, I only needed to open my umbrella once, and only for a few seconds.
The day started with a trip to Building 9 at JSC, for a class on the ISS Joint Airlock. Shortly after the halfway mark, you could tell what was going on outside the building, because the rain was really pounding on the roof of the facility, with frequent loud punctuations provided by thunder.
(Apropos of which, sort of, I must mention that while recently reading some text in French, I was captivated by a phrase that started "Les fulgurances de cette femme...". I had no idea what fulgurance was, but it sounded very elegant. I was not able to find the specific word in my dictionary, but what I did find is related to the verb "to fulgurate," which means "to dart and flash like lightning" and represents a word I don't think I've encountered before. In any event, the word paints a vivid picture of the "this woman" in the text, don't you agree? But I digress...)
My Chelyabinsk client finally came through with some cabbage, and now I must see how long it takes to actually make it into my bank account. I'm betting about 2-3 days. In the meantime, I made a second trip to the JSC vicinity today to pick up a freelance check that had been cut but not mailed, as said bank account is looking pretty anemic lately, so much so that our preliminary plans to go visit Pagosa sometime soon will probably be put off by a month, but we've done crazier things with less money, so don't hold your breath.
I took a nap in the afternoon, but again it felt more like a sleep session. Perhaps getting up at 7 am to get ready for today's training took a bit more out of me than I thought, I don't know. One thing I am sure of is taht I am falling behind markedly in my exercise, and that can't be good.
Tomorrow, I must rise early to work a 7 am telecon, and then buckle down and translate a document due Friday morning. Fortunately, the items I accepted - was it yesterday? - for Friday were finished a few minutes ago, so maybe there'll be time to slip in an exercise session tomorrow, after the telecon and before the start of the sim training late in the afternoon.
Cheers...
