I'm afraid it is.

Today has been another one of those strange days that pass by in a flash. It started with a couple of emails from my French client, which resulted in a couple of jobs. By the time I lifted my head from the computer screen this morning, it was nearly 11 am and Galina had yet to budge from bed.

I must be a closet bureaucrat, or something, because ever since I installed the QuickBooks Invoice Manager on my system, I seem to have developed a yen for more paperwork.

For one thing, the French client gets invoiced in euros, and to the best of my exploration, Invoice Manager doesn't do more than one currency at a time (for all I know it does only dollars), so invoicing the client involves generating an invoice the old way (a Word file, citing euros), followed by the creation of an invoice in Invoice Manager for an equivalent dollar amount, rounded down to the nearest nickel.

Since two clients have payment schemes that are designed to go past 30 days - and since I've had words with one of them based on having sent them a statement - I've decided it makes sense to send such clients monthly statements (especially the French client, who terms are "60 days after the end of the invoice month," which translates into - as far as I can tell - between 60 and 90 days after invoicing).

To avoid having to pipe all my invoices through the Intuit server, I've installed a PDF-creating driver and "print" the invoices to PDF files, which I then send to the client directly (or at least without routing them all through Intuit). Generally, I also print a paper copy for myself, too, and in short, it struck me today that I'm no better off - and maybe even a little more behind - with Invoice Manager than I was before.

Such is life in the big city, I guess.

Of the two jobs, one was due ASAP and was dispatched in that manner. The other is due Friday, and there are about 400 source words left in that one, so I would appear to be in good shape.

I need to get off this computer and get just a wee bit of relaxation in before hitting the sack (despite a nap earlier), as I need to be at JSC tomorrow morning, bright and early, for an ISS training session.

In other news, I should probably mention that automated payment of bills is really spiffy, as long as you keep track of correspondence informing you of changes in the amounts of payments, which are almost never smaller than before (if you get my drift). We got bit hard on this, today, as it occurs to us that we haven't received any mail forwarding from Pagosa in a while. Further deponent sayeth not, for if I start in on this subject, I'm going to well and truly spoil my mood, which I have managed to salvage from the dumps where it languished briefly earlier in the day.

Cheers...
