Slept a lot. Natalie came down. We all went shopping and stopped at a local PetSmart, where they were having an adoption event, and although Galina was having a good time coochie-cooing a series of dogs, she didn't really respond to any "calls to action" from me. Then again, it's not as if this kind of event results in a lot of take-homes: I found out from a representative of a save-a-cocker-spaniel group that there are some preliminary hoops to jump through - e.g., a home visit - before an adoption is approved (though said hoops, he added, were strictly pro forma). I don't know, I think the visit to the store did more to depress my mood than anything else, but not - as is usually the case - for long.

After doing some shopping, we came home, whereupon I embarked on Yet Another Loaf of Bread. This was a mix of whole wheat and unbleached white flour, which seems to have turned out okay... I'll have a better idea tomorrow once the loaf cools down completely (Galina has a tendency to rip into warm loaves with great gusto).

Earlier in the day, I returned Bad Men and The Last King of Scotland (which I could not watch much of, as I didn't need to be reminded of what Idi Amin was capable of) for Pan's Labyrinth and The Secret Life of Words. Both films were worth watching, although - spoiler ahead - the former made less sense to me, because a film like this, which has magic and fantasy at its disposal, doesn't deserve to end as sadly as this one did. By comparison, I could at least root for the main characters in The Secret Life of Words.

Natalie took off for home and Galina is still in front of the tube. Moi, I intend to hit the sack.

Cheers...
