Back home...
Jun. 16th, 2007 10:46 pmIt occurs to me, in hindsight, that if you go to the emergency room and they find nothing wrong,... well... despite the fact you felt something was wrong, there's not much more they can do for you except send you the bill.
I've since set up an appointment with a doctor, after being advised to take a few days - preferably a week - of complete rest.
Feeling ever more pressured by events, Galina decided to go ahead and take off for Pagosa to start implementing The Grand Plan, which involves fixing the house in Pagosa so that we can either rent it (again) or sell it. Fortunately, Natalie has remained behind to make sure the Old Man™ is being looked after, and today was a good day.
Late in the day, a dog went trotting by the house. It was so thin, the pelvic bones were pretty pronounced, and had no collar or other ID that I could see. The nails are pretty long, too. Surprisingly, not too many fleas turned up when the animal was bathed.
The dog is, I think, largely a black lab, but there is something about the placement of the eyes in the skull that make me think there's a genetic contribution from a pit bull in the mix. In addition to bathing it, we've also fed it and will make a good faith effort tomorrow to see if there are any "Lost Dog" posters in the vicinity that might apply. Temperamentally, however, the animal seems very docile, alert, somewhat curious, and fairly intelligent.
Time to call it a day. Galina ought to be getting to Pagosa in a couple of hours.
Cheers...
