I do not think it is my imagination. A look at three sequential images from the National Hurricane Center indicates that, for now at least, Dean's predicted path is translating westward, currently involving something more than a graze past Yucatan and then coming ashore well south of Brownsville Wednesday afternoon.

I have again hit my quota for The Horror, and since I got only a couple of hours of sleep this morning, I have only a couple of work hours left until I try to get another couple of hours before tonight's shift, the last one for this assignment.

In the next two hours, I shall have to apply myself to the tax return translations.

Cheers...

Okay, now I'm only one page away from being totally caught up, but there's no need to push things with a night shift still before me. Time to relax, if that's possible.

The kombucha that I started almost two weeks ago has been sitting quietly, not doing much, not changing as far as I could see. The spots I saw forming on the surface of the liquid have coalesced into a floating layer that I have since removed to its own small container of sweet tea for further maturing (I plan to take it to New York with me).

My ulterior motive in removing the layer was to be able to sample the goods, and today, for the first time, it's beginning to taste like... well, I'm no expert, but I'd venture to say "like the stuff I brought home from the Russian store a couple of weeks ago," but not as tart.

The radio/CD in my inherited Focus does not play CDs with MP3s on them (though it apparently recognizes when such disks are inserted). This means that if I want to listen to tunes while driving, I'll have to burn 'em to "expendable" CD (in the sense that, if they get lost/stolen/destroyed/deformed/abducted by space aliens, I won't be too annoyed). The alternative - if the display of hardware at Fry's is any indication - would be to spend a minimum of nearly $200 for a new player.

I think I'll stick with the old one, for now.

I've been told that my shift has been extended for a couple of hours tomorrow morning. I am assuming this is due to the decision to bring Endeavour home a day early, which would require an undock tomorrow, but whatever the reason, I'll be ready.

But first, I must spend a couple of hours in consultation with some pillows while I carefully examine the inside surface of my eyelids.

Cheers...
