When it rains...
Aug. 30th, 2007 05:00 pmAnother job, 10600 source words, came in hot on the heels of the work that arrived yesterday, with a somewhat earlier deadline (Tuesday morning). Some might complain that Yet Another Holiday is being sacrificed to the God of Deadline; I'm just happy there's a day in there to be placed on the altar.
It's not been feasible to work in the dining room as has been the case during earlier visits. For one thing, it's hot; for another, it's virtually impossible to keep an eye on Shiloh in the dining room, which is contiguous with the living room. So, I've set up an office in my mom's old bedroom, which basically means I've reassembled an old dining room table that the old man had in storage in the basement, and relocated my electronics so that I can work comfortably with a fan blowing from across the room.
Assuming, despite the aforementioned, that I'd like to keep Monday a light day (say, no more than 2,000 words), and that I am capable of doing 2,000 source words between now and hitting the sack tonight, a little surface-of-the-screen doodling reveals that I need to split up 15,000 source words between tomorrow, Saturday, Sunday, and Tuesday, which works out to 3750 words per day or so.
Given recent history, that ought to be a piece of cake, though it's still a serious number.
My dad is still in the hospital, and he seems to be getting stronger. I hope he gets out soon.
Cheers...
