Mach 2.3...
Sep. 25th, 2007 10:57 pmIt's been one of those days.
The interpretation gig went pretty well, and I even didn't feel too bad about not being able to interpret the financial part of the discussion when one of the participants got up and started to explain, with the aid of a whiteboard, a highly complex procedure for slinging money about. When that happened, I turned to the fellow I was interpreting for and explained that this was beyond my capability, as the level at which the discussion was being waged was somewhere up in the stratosphere.
After the gig, I visited something of a monument downtown, a technical bookstore that caters to the engineering crowd. The prices on the books were well and truly amazing (I hadn't been in such an emporium in quite a while); most of the stuff I was interested in ran in the above-$100 range, per volume. Yikes!
I just got through sending off the translations due tomorrow, along with invoices. The major question for me this month is whether I'll hit the "90% of the nut" level or not. Hitting it will tell me that my trip to New York really didn't hold me back that seriously. However, before pontificating about what does and does not affect me, I think I'll wait until the end of the month. I may skip the pontification altogether as well.
I need to get to sleep soonest. It's up at 5 am again tomorrow morning to hit the road at 6 am. Different group, same song.
Cheers...
