Karen and Mike T. are friends of ours here in Pagosa, and we had a very nice lunch with them yesterday. Today, I brought Shiloh over to their shop to meet them (Karen and one of her dogs, Dana, are agility competitors) and we had a nice walk, despite freezing precipitation (I didn't stop to check, but I think it was sleet). Shiloh dug the whole scene, and we had a fine time.

Speaking of which, Shiloh is digging (literally) the hill we live on, which is an outcrop of shale covered in several inches of shale sand. She is also learning to deal with the cactus that litters the ground, which have small pink bodies the size of grapes and exhibiting a number of long and sharp thorns that appear to have little hooks at the end. (The routine appears to be: remove offending item from foot with mouth - ouch! - and then whip head around so that said offending item flies out of mouth.)

Galina came along as I went to the cardio shop for a check up and renewal of meds. Some tests are indicated, but the general opinion about my status is cautiously optimistic, which takes some stress off my mind. After the doctor, we stopped at the post office, where I mailed off a signed PO to my new client (a requirement of theirs, just when I thought I had convinced the Last Holdout among my clients to abandon the submittal of physically signed invoices). The fact that the letter is going to Spain didn't make my day any lighter.

Then Galina and I went to a health food place not far from the post office, where we bought hardly anything, but qualified for a free grocery bag owing since we ended up spending a truly astounding amount of money. I stocked up on kombucha, kefir, and some green tea. I also managed to spy some vanilla bean on sale, which is - IMAO - vastly superior to vanilla extract when making desserts.

I have an item to translate for tomorrow morning that's going to take about 3 hours, but I really don't feel like starting it tonight. What I really feel like doing is taking it easy.

Cheers...
