Last week, I decided to upgrade the cable service offered by Cablevision (under the Optimum name) to their advertised "triple play" of cable, broadband, and phone service. The technician showed up to do the work today, and it all went fairly smoothly, with a minimum of trouble. I stayed mostly out of the way of the tech, and he deferred to me when it came to troubleshooting computer connectivity problems.

After he left, I sat down to see what needed to be done to connect the cable modem to the Linksys WRT54G router/switch that I brought with me from Texas, and it turns out that almost none of the WW-DRT firmware settings required modification.

So here I am, doing the wireless thing in the den.

Yes, the traffic in stuff-to-the-den has escalated. You can actually see the top of most of the dining room table. Unfortunately, the speed with which I moved stuff upstairs was perhaps a bit too fast; Shiloh got hold of my favorite semi-antique Mont Blanc fountain pen (actually, she got hold of the leather case the pen was in) and put a few additional dents in it (while chewing the leather case to pieces). Grrrr.

In other news, I did two rush jobs today at the desk in the den, and I'm thinking I'm going to have to refine the layout up here.

Cheers...
