...sort of.

I spent quite a bit of time going through stuff this morning looking for a passbook to the estate's savings account (or what will be the estate's savings account if I ever find it). Since it has been decades since I've had any active truck with such a thing, I have to assume that most LJers have no idea what I'm talking about.

Back in the days when there was less computer storage on the planet than there is on any of our hard drives, banks used to give depositors a thin booklet in which all deposits, withdrawals, and interest payments were imprinted. This was the passbook. Obviously, the passbook wasn't the only record of the account, but it was a very important document, because if I recall correctly, you couldn't do anything with your account if you didn't have your passbook with you when you went to the bank.

Anyway, the last time I remember seeing the thing was shortly before I was made preliminary executor, and I must have put it away in a really secure place, because I can't find it. Yet.

The search effort widened into a cleanup of the old sheet music cabinet, which now holds a bunch of electronics, cables, and parts. Earlier in the day, I took a hard look at all the stuff that had piled up on top of the cabinet and wondered what of what was inside I could do without, or at least store somewhere else.

I managed to fill a large storage box with things such as my second USB keyboard/mouse set, my half-operative SLR film camera, TI-83 calculator, old 20-GB external hard drive, and so on, to the point where about half of the drawers are now empty!

I had every intention of sitting down in the afternoon and put 2,000 words or so of translation under my fingertips, but Galina insisted on taking me along to order the new kitchen cabinets, which pretty much killed the second half of the day, once you consider the obligatory swing by the Costco on the way back (we had run out of pretty much everything).

Dinner was spaghetti and meatballs (made of chicken) in marinara sauce. Yum! (I prefer plain old marinara to some of the more exotic sauces offered on shelves these days.) I feel like closing my eyes, but will try to hold off for a couple of hours, so I can sleep through the night instead of napping until 9 pm or so.

Cheers...
