A long, strange day...
Mar. 31st, 2008 11:58 pmI got a call a couple of days ago from the auto insurance company that covered my parents' cars. It seems the old man was in a fender-bender in July, and the other party is only making a fuss about it now. This has really spiked my paranoia meter, but I'm not going to let shadows call the tune I dance to, so I'm going to try to ignore this interruption.
Apparently, there are three more CBTs I need to do, in addition to the one I finished over the weekend. The one I did today was largely a waste of time, but I'm getting paid, so there's not much to complain about.
Galina and I watched The Dog Problem, which was the only DVD I could stomach renting from the Redbox vending machine in town (hey, it was "Promo Code Monday"!). I actually sort of liked the story and thought the actors did a passable job, although Galina disagrees about the actors, saying they weren't up for the roles.
I received an inquiry to do about 2500 words, with a paid sample up front, which I did and sent, figuring (if nothing else) that my responsiveness and speed of translation would win the day. Well, it turned out that the client thinks I did only half the job (if I read the response correctly) because I was supposed to have been sent a full page of the document in question, whereas the image I received only shows half a page. Although I managed to find the document (a standard) online, and went on to translate about what would fit on the rest of the page (plus a little more), this effort may not be the slam dunk I thought it might be.
Oh, well.
March came in like a lion, work-wise, and went out... well... not exactly like a lamb, or a lion, or a wombat, or anything in particular in the animal kingdom that I can put my finger on. I missed my billing goal for the month, but not by as much as I thought I would when I started thinking about it a few days ago. The plate is still fairly full.
That said, it's time to go to sleep.
Cheers...
