Given the time of day, that doesn't look very promising.

I got up fairly early and OCRed my way up to page 52 of the job, which is where I need to be by the end of the day. The funny thing about OCR is that you don't see a lot of progress for quite a while, as you pinch here and resize there, and then... boom!... in the course of an hour, 8 pages are complete.

The next four pages ought to go pretty easily, followed by two "light" pages (meaning they have almost no text on them). Then it'll be back for a slog of 12 of the pages that have made me bleary eyed so far today.

Good news: 6 of tomorrow's pages are "light," although practically, all that'll do is give me some time to de-speckle the final product.

I wonder if I have time for a nap?

Cheers...

It is just short of 9pm, and I have just managed to catch up to where I should be at the moment. (This means the 26 pages for today, and the 3 pages I didn't do yesterday.)

(I dared not slack off today, even though there are 6 "light" pages in tomorrow's last batch, since I must also de-speckle both this section and the one I finished over the weekend.)

I am dog tired, but there's only one more day of this particular mode of work, after which I plan to take it relatively easy with a smooth 5,000 words due on Sunday morning.

The carpenters were here today, and where yesterday there was a tangle of 2x4s, today... well, today, there was less of a mess when they left (that's Galina in the kitchen, moving too fast for a mortal lens to follow):

I took Shiloh for a walk after dinner, and became acutely aware of just how noisy it is around here, even though the noise is "natural." Several geese, an owl, some kind of bird whose cry sounded almost human (I could imagine kids in a schoolyard), and chirping insects. (I tried the old trick of counting chirps for 15 seconds and adding 37, which gave me an approximate outside air temperature of about 14 million degrees Farenheit - give or take - because there were a lot of crickets out there, all vying for attention in the great game of life.)

Anyway, it is an immediate goal of mine to shut down this computer and get some rest. Tomorrow is the Big Push on the 40K Job.

Cheers...
