Okay! I've got about 12,500 source words for Monday, which - if I stretch it out to provide a nice, even strain - works out to just over 3,000 words per day starting on Thursday. I've also got a couple of revision jobs in the pipeline.

I am now a happy camper (though if truth be told, aside from cleaning up some junk, I didn't put the my involuntary vacation to good use and ought to work on my temper, as well...).

Cheers...

Spring is, as the old song goes, "bustin' out all over!"

I began to notice only a few days ago, when an old and sorry-looking tree had taken the lead in pushing new green growth from whatever branches it had left. Today, on a whim, Galina and I enjoyed a late lunch of fast Mexican food al fresco, on the lawn, and it was a marvelous experience.

I also noticed that the aforementioned tree, which was old and stately back when my folks bought this place, and which had been "operated" upon by a tree surgeon to link the two parts of its bifurcated trunk with a cable, had actually had a second cable installed wa-a-ay up in the tree, too, the better to keep the half of the tree aimed at the house from coming loose and causing damage to the roof and goodness knows what else.

Well, during the most recent Great Wind, a little while back, a fair sized chunk of the part of the tree on the far side of the house came crashing down, decapitating - the word fits - a juniper beneath it. And that second cable, up in the tree? Well, today, I would guess the only thing holding it to the far trunk is about three inches of splintered wood, so I'm guessing it's time to call the tree surgeon again... and soon.

Cheers...
