One of the things that annoy me about working with Word in revision mode is having to deal with umpteen gazillion format changes that the program insists on letting me know about.

Sure, you can turn them off, so as not to see them, but someone else could turn them back on and Restore the Ugliness™. There is even the possibility of a third party gaining insight into how I leverage my tools when I work, whereas I prefer to keep 'em guessing.

Just now, I learned how to accept all format changes in a document (while leaving changes and deletions along). To wit:
  1. Click on Show and deselect everything but Formatting.
  2. Click the drop-down arrow next to the "accept change" icon and select Accept All Changes Shown
This is good juju, methinks.

I agreed to take a 1500-word job today from my best client, which was probably not a terribly swift move, but hey! what are best clients for? After dispatching the translation and napping - and reading another 150 pages of Nelson DeMille's Up Country - I sat down to take care of two "reworks," which involve incorporating revisions into translations.

I took entirely too long on the first job, mostly because there were... discrepancies... between the revised document and the translation I was given as a baseline. The only problem (sort of) was that I had been instructed to do only the marked revisions, but some of the discrepancies interfered with that.

The second job seems better in that regard, not to mention I was the original translator, so there's not as much wincing, which happens when I run across a rendering that isn't necessarily wrong, but still makes me wince when I read it.

Still, it's an 86 page job that must be submitted by noon tomorrow, but I'm only 1/6 of the way through it, and seriously thinking of hitting the sackeroonie.

Cheers...
