I did manage to get out of the house today, guiltily leaving Shiloh behind because (a) dogs are generally not welcome in retail stores, and (b) it gets pretty hot in the car when the sun is out. Stops included the bank and the coffee shop (I wasn't awfully keen to brew some this morning, and I didn't want to brew only one cup, which generally doesn't work out very well anyway), followed by stops at the grocery store and the hardware store.
I bought three feet of polyeurethane tubing at the hardware store ($0.45 + tax) so that I could siphon the kombucha into bottles that I've been saving, as I've noticed that the bubbling activity that had become apparent a couple of days after putting up the batch had fallen off quite a bit. I was skeptical of the result, as no "mother" developed anywhere in the batch, either at the top or the bottom, but there is that characteristic smell and, aside from perhaps not having enough sugar in it, the liquid does taste like weak kombucha.
In any event, I'm not feeling any ill effects after drinking about 4 ounces of the stuff.
I spent a couple of hours maintaining files and getting ready for the trip to Kazakhstan, and then puttered about in the "kitchen" and did some cleaning.
Last night, as a result of having slept earlier in the evening, to took me a long time to nod off. This morning, as usual, Shiloh got me up pretty early. By the time the middle of the afternoon rolled around, since there was no translation work on the plate, I lay down to take a nap and ended up sleeping until 6 or so. Maybe I'll listen to a French VerbCast when I hit the rack tonight; they're not boring, but I've noticed they do have a tendency to relax you and let you go to sleep.
Cheers...
