Home doings...
Sep. 24th, 2008 08:34 pmGalina had been researching the cost of one of those "mail order" sheds that you can build "out of the box" after said box is delivered, and concluded that short of spending close to $3,000 (we have a lot of stuff), the idea wasn't feasible.
For one thing, that's a hefty investment. For another, it'd have to be designed to withstand snow (last winter, people around Pagosa were climbing onto their roofs to shovel off unusually large accumulations of snow that threatened to collapse the structure underneath). And finally, we really don't have the time or inclination to wait until the thing is delivered and then construct it.
So, Galina called one of the many people who have worked on the house and asked them to come over and help enclose a corner of the house that's under the verandah and next to the garage.
The carpenter is one of those poor souls who is bound to Pagosa as a result of a very severe snowboarding habit, but he swings a mean hammer. I took a break after sending in der Bingle - oh, how good that feels - and helped reclaim some 2x4s from our junk pile. The result will cost a fraction of what a standalone shed would cost (though I'm probably going to want something doghouse-sized around 50 feet from the house to store things like gas cans).
I haven't done an exhaustive search, but there seems to be a dearth of news on the 'net about the new Kindle(s). I'm kind of hoping they'll be available in time for my business trip.
If I am lucky, I'll get about half of what I need to get done from Bingle, Jr. tonight. I'm well on the way, but need to get back to the grind.
Cheers...
