I just got back from dinner with the Ukrainians, who are leaving tomorrow afternoon. There's a part of me that wishes I had known that when I bought my tickets, as I would not mind going home tomorrow. There's another part of me that figures a half-day fee for my travel time on Wednesday isn't exactly bad news, either.
I am happy to have survived week 5 of the LJ Idol competition, not far from the bottom of my "tribe." It is my understanding that tribes are being rearranged this week, but such maneuvers are beyond my event horizon. What troubles me is how to address the theme of the week, which - reduced to one word - has to do with ghosts.
I haven't any good, traditional ghost stories, and the story or two that have been handed down via word-of-mouth in the family are so lacking in drama and suspense that I may as well publish a police report on littering in its stead (though, I suppose, if such a story were to achieve the erstwhile popularity of, say, Alice's Restaurant Massacree, I would not complain) .
Alternatively, I am tempted to embark on some kind of epistle involving Arthur Koestler's Ghost In The Machine, or perhaps on my favorite (and related) anime, Ghost In The Shell, by Masamune Shirow. I shall assign my subconcious the overnight task of selecting a suitable subject (which may itself serve as a ghost story, I don't know, for what is our subconscious other than a ghost with whom we share our thoughts?).
Cheers...
