I spent the day with mediocre productivity, but in the end, I bagged another 5K source words, leaving about 10K for tomorrow and Thursday. Friday is going to be interesting, from the despeckling point of view.

After reading a number of items about the site and the idea behind it, I decided to join Postcrossing. I dearly love the idea of getting mail - real mail - that has nothing to do with people wanting me to send them money for some reason, real or imagined.

I fondly remember my first excursion into correspondence chess - with a Good Humor man from Manasquan, New Jersey, can you dig it? - back when I was in high school. Getting mail in those days was an event! It was fun (even though I lost pretty much all of my games)! Maybe Postcrossing will recapture some of the romance of snailmail, who knows?

The theme of this week's LJ Idol entry ("Coloring Outside the Lines") has had me jotting down ideas since learning of the theme. Now, it's going to be a job to figure out which such event in my life to focus on. Should it be the story of the first time I well-and-truly openly defied parental authority? Or something perhaps a bit more literal, such as the summer I got a job pointing dorm rooms? What about how I got an education, of sorts, while working for a travel agency in the USSR?

It's not going to be an easy choice, but I'm too tired to work on anything more tonight.

Cheers...
