Chelyabinsk promises a partial payment this week, which is encouraging (although two previous promises were broken).

The New York rent check arrived today.

Mike is on his way down.

I feel as if a logjam has broken.

I finally took a deep breath and removed the sink that has been in my old office forever. Unlike the New York house, where my stepdad had a submarine's worth of valves installed throughout the piping to allow various combinations of bypasses and shutoffs, this house is sort of light on those kinds of valves (though not as light as the house in Friendswood, which requires one to shut the water off at the street to do any serious work on interior plumbing).

Indeed, the situation was not much better as far as the sink was concerned. To take out the faucet, I had to turn off water to the house and drain it. Once that was done and the lines to the faucet cut, taking out the faucet and the sink was relatively easy.

I capped the ends of the 1/2-inch copper pipe with shutoff valves, as I intend to reroute the piping to accommodate a wet bar that we picked up at a local Ace Hardware shop that was consolidating its operations here in town. It involved soldering the joints, which reminded me of the times I used to help my dad with that job, and it seemed to me that his joints looked a lot better than what I ended up with today (though my joints appear to be pressure-tight, even if they are on the ugly side).

I may have to go to Durango tomorrow and visit the Nissan dealer to have the service department look at a couple of things on the Infiniti. In the meantime, life goes on.

Cheers...
