Moving off the dime...
Sep. 17th, 2009 07:24 pmHalf the world (consisting of representatives from the gas company and Internet provider) will be at our house in Houston on Monday, so we're pretty much going to have to be there to let them in. So today, Galina and I - and mostly I - got off the dime and started making perceptible progress for our visit.
I'm trying to keep "my stuff" - basically my office and a few amusements - down to four boxes.
We'll see how that works out.
I'm going to translate for another 20 minutes or so, just so I can say I laid 4,000 target words down on the pixels of my liquid crystal display. I am 50% of the way through the PowerPoint file (59 slides of the way to 118), but the worst appears to be over. An eyeballing of the remaining slides tells me there are about 2500 source words left in the file.
I have been assured that there is more where that came from, which is welcome news. (In fact, I've already been sent a document due Monday evening.) Another good client promises work around the end of the month. I will remain confident.
For now, however, I think I should make sure I have a reliable backup of my data files.
Cheers...
