Today's assignment turned out to be fairly disappointing, taking more time for the commute than for the job itself. I managed to make good use of the Acer during the assignment, which simply confirms that my experience in Moscow last June wasn't a fluke.

The only other compensating factor was being able to eat lunch with Galina and Natalie at the Le Madeleine in Meyerland.

It was after 3:30 pm by the time I got back to Seabrook, and after spending about 30 minutes catching up, I did about an hour's worth of translation, then took a 3-hour break for dinner, bread-baking, and the two NCIS shows.

I broke down and purchased a set of refurbished cartridges for the Lexmark (50% of what new cartridges cost), as I concluded not using a printer is a lot different from actually not being able to print anything at all.

What tipped me over the edge was the unit's ability to continue scanning even though the cartridges that were in it were dry, dry, dry (on similar Epson scanner/printers, a low ink level disables all functions until you pony up a new cartridge). Also, on the Lexmark, it would appear the print head is built into the cartridge (as opposed to the Epson I left in Pagosa, for which buying a new cartridge won't solve a clogged print head problem).

Unfortunately, now the Lexmark is throwing a hardware error code 0502, which I'm going to have to research and act upon if I'm to have a usable printer.

Le sigh.

If it ain't one thing, it's another.

Cheers...
