Almost a day off...
Dec. 6th, 2009 08:58 amThe wind woke me in the middle of the night, as it did one of its banshee-wail numbers going past the bedroom window, but I managed to get back to sleep. When I got up, the house was in the middle of a snowstorm, with visibility measured in yards. One grapefruit and half a cup of coffee later, the falling flakes have abated, and I can see the traffic moving along Highway 160, about a mile away. Galia's choice to leave yesterday appears to have been sound, as the falling snow appears to have moved off in the direction of of the road to Santa Fe, toward Texas.
I now find myself in the curious position of not having a car readily at hand, so the next couple of weeks will be interesting. The supermarket is about a mile and a half away - a not overwhelming distance on foot, even doubled - but groceries tend to be bulky so the "return on investment" for such a trip would be small. I've already agreed to borrow the car from the kids tonight so I can go to a doctor's appointment tomorrow morning first thing.
Overall, I plan on getting a lot of things done around the house and in my office. It's time to go find that list.
Cheers...
