Oh, that new carpet smell...
Jan. 11th, 2010 06:45 pm...I think it's making me sick!
A bunch of work has finally come in, but today was "carpet installation day" for us in Seabrook, and by mid-afternoon, I had a champion headache that I attribute to the aromas through the living quarters chez nous. I took some time to get out of the house and return last night's rental DVD, and I felt better by the time I was on my way home.
The day's "bag" contains about 2600 words, and there are 3400 source words for me to translate tomorrow, and possibly more for Friday if a Moscow-based client comes through. That will put off any tentative departure for Pagosa (me and the animals, to keep them off the carpet and out of the house) until at least this weekend.
Galina and I felt compelled to have Natalie convey to Lola's new owner to be wary of the cat's interactions with strange new dogs. Lola grew up with our Shiloh, who never exhibited the least aggression toward any of the kittens (though Shiloh did put her open mouth on the kittens, and did lick their bottoms). We're hoping Lola doesn't just assume that all dogs are like that, and end up misreading less-than-playful intentions.
I started reading Heat Wave, by "Richard Castle" (whose name appears in quotes because he's the title character of a television mystery series that's just completed its second season). I'm about halfway through the book, and while this is not deathless literature, I do find myself pressing the "Next Page" button on the Kindle to find out what happens next.
It has been a long day. I might check in later to see what this week's prompt is for LJ Idol, but other than that, I'm outahere! Speaking of Castle, it's that night!
Cheers...
