All up in the air...
Jan. 13th, 2010 07:35 pmBetween a new episode of NCIS and finishing a 3500-target-word translation last night, I plumb forgot about posting to LiveJournal, which is a good thing, I suppose. Not so good is drawing a complete mental blank for this week's LJ Idol "open topic"; I plan to give the ol' subconscious a "seek and develop" assignment tonight, else I may have to take a bye if work starts to pour in.
Even if it doesn't, I still promised to put in some time to help one of my clients with an RFP that directly affects me (as in: if the client doesn't get the job, I will almost certainly lose income). I'm pretty good on the writing side and not too much of a slouch in keeping an eye on how well what's in the proposal addresses what's asked for in the RFP, so we'll see.
Galina and I loaded up the Ford and took three shelves from the house in Seabrook to Natalie's place. Along the way, we stopped and had lunch with Natalie at a place called Yia Yia Mary's over near San Felipe and I-610. Galina had shrimp souvlaki and I ordered moussaka, and both dishes were very good. (Natalie supervised and nibbled at our side salads.)
I finished Heat Wave last night and was not disappointed, despite the constant awareness of the gimmick behind the book (the author appears as the title character on the television series Castle). An interesting "side effect" of having a fictitious mystery author write a roman à clef starring, effectively, himself and someone else in his fictitious world is that the story line in the book can go into the bedroom, yet keep the sexual tension in the television episodes at a tittilattingly unresolved level. A somewhat unusual win-win, but a win-win nonetheless.
The plate is empty, but aside from the RFP, there is always invoicing to be done.
Cheers...
