I knew that as soon as I agreed to undertake the 200,000-word editing job, the work floodgates would open. I've since been contacted by two people who haven't called me in ages, and this in addition to a reasonable volume of work from people who normally provide me with a good stream (even if that stream did dry to a trickle in July).

I had hoped to get out of the house and into the woods again before too long, but that's going to have to wait, at least for a few days until the high work level subsides to something a lot more manageable.

Which means I better get to it.

Cheers...

I've managed to watch three episodes of the new BBC series Sherlock. I won't spoil things for you by telling you what the episodes are about, or anything, but I will say that - generally speaking - I am impressed.

I was, of course, just kidding about not spilling any beans about the series. It's Sherlock Holmes, updated for the 21st century, with computers and text messaging, complete with Dr. John Watson (home and recuperating from having been shot in Afghanistan), Detective Inspector Lestrade, Mrs. Hudson, and other familiar names beginning with the letter M.

I thoroughly enjoyed the first episode, A Study in Pink, and how the writers made use of the "Based on the works of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle" message that appears during the opening credits. If you're familiar with The Canon, you can see where elements of some old stories have been dragged through the contemporary scripts to leave their mark.

I didn't like the second episode as much (The Blind Banker), but the third episode (The Great Game) more than made up for it, even if... well... I shan't spoil it by venting about my personal pet peeves.

According to the IMDB news page for the series, the show's co-creator/writer/producer Steven Moffat and producer Sue Vertue have just announced that the show will continue past the initial three episodes.

I look forward to that.

Cheers...
