alexpgp: (Bolete!)
I finally finished the big translation job and went mushrooming for a couple of hours to celebrate. I stopped by Site Lima to see if the lobster mushrooms had fruited yet, and didn't see any because I was looking in the right place.

By that, I mean I went to where I knew lobsters had appeared before, without looking closely at my surroundings outside of that area. I would estimate that the season for lobster mushrooms is only beginning, at least at Site Lima, but at leas now I have an updated mental map of where to look for the tasty little critters.

I took Shiloh with me and she behaved splendidly, coming whenever I called and getting into the car when I asked her to. More to the point, she did not jump up on passing cars.

I took the opportunity of passing by the "far" side of town to stop in to what would appear to be a new Chinese restaurant, but the quality of the food and the fact that the new establishment occupies the space of the old Hunan Restaurant makes me think there's really nothing new at all. (The food is most unmemorably edible.)

I've run the mushrooms that've been drying on makeshift expedients through the dehydrator in batches for a few hours per batch, until the chips are "crisp." We are now fairly well stocked for dried mushrooms for a while.

Cheers...
