A day full of road...
Oct. 27th, 2010 09:06 pmnI managed to get on the road scant minutes after I had originally planned, despite translating a 1500-target-word document upon rising. (This, of course, makes me wonder what essential items I may have left behind on my way out the door, but I digress...)
The Garvin took me up through the middle of the state, and it was a glorious day for a drive, up until I got to the thriving metropolis of Fairplay, where I actually encountered not just snow on the road, but snowpack. Fortunately, the snowpack lasted for only a few hundred yards, and the rest of the road was clear, all the way to Denver.
My hotel is on East Colfax Avenue, and the neighborhood has the patina of one of those San Francisco districts where storefronts that offer Chinese takeout and pet massages compete with the homeless who prowl the streets for a handout. I was able to avoid being approached by passionately mumbling Eugene Onegin - in Russian - under my breath as I walked back from the Hyatt.
Cheers...
